Leadership topic - Space

Space is the part of leading that looks like doing nothing. It is the 5 seconds after you ask a question, the job you hand over and stop checking, and the hour you spend reading what someone else wrote. Most leaders fill every gap they find, and the people who think before they speak, the engineers most of all, stop talking. The question is the same in the lab and at home: where are you leaving Space, and who steps into it when you do?

Coldplay built a whole solar system for Music of the Spheres in 2021: 9 planets, 3 moons, a star and a nebula, each one a track. Before Higher Power came out on May 7, 2021, the band played it first to the ESA astronaut Thomas Pesquet, in orbit aboard the ISS, and Chris Martin said “the song is about trying to find the astronaut in all of us.” Years before that, Yellow came out of a night at Rockfield Studios, under a sky so full of stars that the producer, Ken Nelson, said “The stars were twice as close.”

Space is… of course… “…the final frontier – these are the voyages of Mark House” as he sailed through the planets of NASA, IBM, and people 😉 Come along for 7 days with Coldplay, and leave a little Space…
